Welcome!
After years of playing guitar and several tours around the globe, I wanted to start sharing my knowledge. This Lessons section is organized by musical style. Scroll down the page to explore lessons in each genre.
Pardon the mess while I transition to a better site experience on this page!
Styles covered:
I'm a sub for the iconic group Chicago. I met the band while on the road with America. (This also led to being asked to do guitar work for Don Felder of the Eagles as well as Orleans.)
"Beginnings" is a great song to hone your rhythm playing while playing a major 7th based chord progression. Don't wimp out on the intro! It's super important to play this with a driving, yet, in-the-pocket feel.
This is a 1 minute overview of the chords in Tin Man. It's a simple song to play once you learn the chords but it can be tricky figuring them out by ear.
Although easy, it is a very fulfilling song to play on an acoustic guitar. I highly recommend trying it on a 12-string acoustic such as the Taylor 150E I'm playing.
This is just the Intro for now with most of the other sections on the way. Practice it SLOWLY with a metronome and add 4 BPM's every few repetitions to build up to full speed.
